Where to stay in Puno Peru

This is Dan from Vagabond Buddha. I just completed 5 days in Puno, Peru.

[kkstarratings]  You are probably coming to Puno to see Lake Titicaca. But while you are here, you are going to want to be near Plaza de Armas. That is where everything is happening in Puno. The restaurants, the travel agencies, and the old town colonial area.

Here are my suggestions of where to stay in Puno. My suggestions range in price starting with super expensive leading to super cheap. Then I’ll tell you where we stayed. You are sure to find your place in the following suggestions. If you select one of the places I recommend below, you will pay nothing extra, but they will pay me a small commission.

A King’s Ransom: This is one of the most expensive places in Puno. It is just offshore from Puno on an island in Lake Titicaca. This is not on Plaza de Armas but if you stay here you are only a 10-minute taxi ride from Plaza de Armas.

Moderate Hotel: This is a clean and nice place in an Amazing location. Right across the street from Plaza de Armas. Turn right when you exit the front door and you are on the walking we show you in our Puno Peru Walking Tour.

Backpacker Recommendation: This backpacker hostel is well reviewed (582 reviews, 8.5/10) and is in a great location.

Where we Stayed: This is where we stayed. It is a hotel room with a private bath and had a hot shower with decent water pressure. It also included a nice breakfast and a wifi router on every floor that worked reasonably well. It was $14 per night when we stayed here. They even watched our luggage when we went on an overnight tour to the islands of Lake Titicaca.

Airbnb Apartment: This place is not far from the Old Town area of Puno and gives you a little space to entertain and cook in the kitchen. It is reasonably priced so you shouldn’t mind paying for a taxi to get to old town Puno. (If you are new to Airbnb, use this code www.airbnb.com/c/dbell50 for a large discount).

Price Check: Once you have selected where you want to stay, then use HotelsCombined.com to find the agency offering the lowest booking price for that property.

Free E-Book: If you would like to learn how to make money online, or how to live internationally possibly with less money than you spend at home, please subscribe to VagabondBuddha.com and grab a free copy of my Ebook.

I am not offering you these prices.  These are just my notes and estimates from the time of my visit and this post.  Your costs will likely be drastically different if significant inflation or deflation occurs or the market changes after this post.  I will not update these numbers until I am on the ground again here, if ever.
