Angkor Wat Itinerary: 1 Day, 2 Days, or 3 Days?

Three Itineraries

There are three potential Angkor Wat itineraries: 1 Day, 2 Days, or 3 Days.

If you have only one day in Angkor Wat, I recommend that you take Day 1 Itinerary, the Inner Circle Tour. If you have 2 days in Angkor Wat, I recommend you take the 2 Day Itinerary, the Inner Circle Itinerary on Day 1 and the Outer Circle Itinerary on Day 2. If you have three days, I recommend you add the Day 3 Itinerary to Days 1 and 2.

If possible, the Inner Circle Tour should be taken on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Those are the busiest temples so it is better if you visit them on the slowest days.

There are Tuk-Tuks everywhere in Siem Reap. They will charge you about $15 per day to take you everywhere including gas. We tipped our driver and bought him lunch too.

Park Entry Passes

There are three kinds of park passes, 1 Day, 3 Days, or 7 Days.

One Day Pass: You buy your park passes here. The first-day tour includes watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat from the west side of Angkor Wat Temple. Check the Sunrise Time the night before and arrange to be at the Ticket Office no later than 1.5 hours before sunrise.

Three Day Pass: If you buy the 3-day pass, you will have one week to use up all three days.

Seven Day Pass: If you buy the 7-day pass, you will have a month to use up all 7 days.

Day 1 Inner Circle

Inner Circle Tour (Small Circle)

If you only have one day in Angkor Wat Temple City, we recommend taking this Inner Circle Tour. The Inner Circle Tour is shown in the following 3 videos of about 10 minutes each.

Day 2 and 3 and maps of the park are below these three videos.

Click ==>here<== or the below Google Map to get an interactive Google Map for the Inner Circle Tour.

Here are the stops on the Inner Circle Tour:

Angkor Wat (12th Century)(60 minutes before sunrise)
Breakfast: Pack and eat after sunrise: We bought groceries here the night before.
Phnom Bakheng (9th Century)
Tonle On Gate (South Gate) (12th Century)
Angkor Thom
Bayon Temple (12 Century)
Phimeanakas Temple
Terrace of the Elephants

Lunch Break: Eat and then sleep during the hottest part of Day. We had our driver take us here for a lovely lunch and then drop us at our hotel for a quick nap (1 hour). Our lunch cost $2.50 per entree and $0.50 draft beer. This was our favorite restaurant while in Siem Reap.

Ta Keo Temple
Ta Prohm Temple
Banteay Kdei Temple: Snacks and then watch the sunset over the lake on the backside of the temple.

2 Day Itinerary

If you have two days to tour the Angkor Wat Temple City, we recommend you take the above Inner Circle Tour on Day 1, and take the following Outer Circle Tour on Day 2.

The Outer Circle Tour (Large Circle Tour, Grand Circle, Big Circle):

The Outer Circle Tour is shown in the following videos.  Day 3 and maps of the park are below these two videos.
