Nha Trang, Vietnam: The Cheapest travel cheap to paradise white sand beach bargain in the world. Starting at $11 per day for food and shelter for hostel backpackers and up to $35 per day for private apartment dwellers living it up.
Shelter: When you book online, stay south of the Tran Phu Bridge but within a mile or so of the bridge. That is the walkable part of the Nha Trang Beach. Rent a hotel near the beach on Agoda.com for the first day for about $20-25.00 per night. There are hostels for $5.00 per night. There are several to choose from.
In Vietnam, not all hotels are on the Internet. Once you are there you can find a better place for cheaper. Walk around the beach area and find a hotel within a few blocks of the beach that is clean and nice. You will pay about $16 per night. Just ask to see a room and see if it will meet your needs. If you need Internet, make sure you get the wifi password and test connectivity before picking a hotel. I found a hotel less than a block from the beach with a balcony, AC, and unlimited Internet. It was $16 per night.
After a night or two, when you are sure you like that hotel, and everything works as promised, ask if there is a discount for booking another week or two. You will pay about $14 a night if you book for a week and $12 per night if you book for a month.
