This Cagayan de Oro Philippines Cost of living information is intended to give you an idea of what daily life would cost you for eating in local restaurants, staying in temporary accommodations, or paying for various entertainment around Cagayan de Oro (CDO).

However, if you retired or lived here long term, you would likely be able to save even more money by cooking at home and renting an apartment long term instead of paying short term rates.

The central part of CDO is compact so you could walk everywhere. So you wouldn’t need a car if you lived in central. As such, we recommend you stay in the area circled in red. You can see a blue dot in the center of the map where we are staying for $20/night right now, link below. That price including utilities and a personal WIFI router in our condo.

You could easily save 40% on that accommodation rate by leasing month to month instead of daily.

By living somewhere walkable to everything (in the red circle), you won’t need a car, car maintenance, car insurance, or car repairs. To go outside the red circle you can jump on a Jeepney. We averaged about 10 Pesos ($0.20 USD) for the Jeepneys we used while here. A Jeepney is sort of like a public shared taxi with people jumping on and off along a route.
