In this report, Qiang will talk about her cost of living in Panama City for one month. Qiang lived in Panama City alone for about 6 weeks when I was in the USA on business.

Qiang Hui of Hobo Ventures’ family has been in Malaysia for multiple generations, but she is mostly ethnic Chinese and with some Thai blood also on her father’s side.
When we travel around Latin America, Qiang misses Asian foods of all sorts, so she was happy to see all the Chinese restaurants and grocery stores in Panama City. Many Chinese people migrated to Panama over 100 years ago to help build the Panama Canal.
So Qiang ate mostly Asian foods of all sorts when I was in the USA.
Cost of Living in Panama City
Grocery Stores and Restaurants: We had rented an apartment in Plaza Centennial Mall before I left for the USA, and Qiang shopped at the Rey Grocery Store there and the Riba Smith Grocery Store across the street in the Altaplaza Mall across the street.
There were also multiple smaller Asian grocery stores in Plaza Centennial Mall where Qiang was able to stock up on Asian foods. So she cooked exclusively Asian foods while she was living alone in Panama City.
Grocery Store Expenses: For one month Qiang spent $239 USD on groceries. That is for one very thrifty person. Most people will spend more than that.
Alcohol: One 6 pack of beer was $5.70 USD. She drank a 6 pack when I was in the USA.
Restaurant Expenses: Qiang ate completely at home during the time when I was in the USA so she did not have any restaurant expenses.
2 Bedroom Apartment Rent: $800 USD Month including utilities and Internet for long-stay 1 month or more. The apartment had a washer and dryer, swimming pool, parking space, balcony, AC, and was in a guarded community.

Transportation: The grocery stores, restaurants, and Chinese grocery stores were all within walking distance to our apartment so Qiang had no transportation costs.
Vaccines: Panama started giving vaccine shots to tourists when I was in the USA, so Qiang was able to get her shots for free while I was in the USA. We went to Panama after the Dominican Republic because Panama was the only country we read was giving vaccine shots to tourists. So we both have our vaccine passports now.
Total Cost of Living for 1 Month for 1 Person: $1044.70. So Qiang’s cost of living for one month during my absence was $1044.57.
