One of my favorite things to do is the Cozumel Mexico $24 Beach Scooter Tour.
You rent a scooter for the day and drive around the coast of the island stopping at the most beautiful beaches and other attractions. There is a google map here with my suggested stops and the first stop is where to pick up your scooter.
You can actually use this GOOGLE MAP on your smartphone to take this tour.

The first stop is where we rented the scooter. Click the map or link and walk to the first stop on the tour to get your scooter. They will quote you a lower number but when you set down to rent to the scooter, they will quote more for insurance. Wait until they are done adding everything to the daily rate and then offer them less. They took our 400 ($20 USD) Pesos offer for everything including helmets and liability insurance. Wow. Scooters cost way more in Mexico than in Asia!
This was my third time taking this around the island scooter tour of Cozumel Mexico. Make sure to fill the tank with fuel before returning the scooter to get your deposit back. It cost us 84 Pesos ($4 USD) to fill the tank. So the minimum for the tour is $24 USD without food or entry fees.
This was the first time I paid to get into the Eco Park at the southern tip of Cozumel. It cost $16 USD per person and was a lovely experience. The highlight was the view from the lighthouse. But I don’t think I would pay it again. Ninety percent of the joy comes from seeing the beaches and those are the same all over the east side inside and outside the Eco Park.
Once you get to the east side of the island, you can just slowly travel north stopping whenever something interests you. There a few restaurants along the east side but it is tourist pricing for food and drinks. So consider picking something up at the grocery store or the public market before heading on the tour.
Our favorite beach on the tour was San Martin but don’t limit yourself to the stops on the map once you hit the east side.
You can take this tour while staying in Cozumel or you can take this tour if you are staying in Plata Del Carmen. Just jump on the fairy in the morning and return in the evening on the last ferry. The ferry costs about 500 Pesos ($25 USD) roundtrip. Check the time for the last ferry beach when you get to the Cozumel side. You can easily get the scooter tour done completed in about 4 hours including 2 hours of driving and 2 hours of enjoying the beach on the east side.
Add another hour for touring the quaint Cozumel city center after you drop off the scooter and you can easily knock out Cozumel in a day trip. We stayed for a week. Look for our best restaurants post next week if you wanted to have dinner at a great locals restaurant before jumping on the ferry back to Playa Del Carmen.
