Is Bangkok back to normal yet

In this report, we answer the question, is Bangkok back to normal yet?

Bangkok Thailand is completely open to foreigners now but is it back to normal? So we jumped on an airplane to answer this question.

Bangkok Immigration Experience

We flew into Bangkok Thailand and immigration only asked us one question, “how long will you be staying in Thailand?” I replied, “we have a flight out in 27 days, but we will probably ask immigration for a 30-day extension.”

Immigration asked no other questions. They stamped our passports giving us 29 days in Thailand with no further questions.

Immigration asked for nothing else from us. They did not ask for vaccine cards. They did not ask for an antigen or PCR test. They did not ask for proof of onward flights leaving Thailand.

They just smiled, stamped our passports, and said welcome to Thailand. That made us wonder … is Bangkok back to normal?

In this video, we will show you what Bangkok looks like now that Thailand is finally completely open again … no vaccines and no COVID tests are required for entry into Thailand. After showing you around Bangkok, we will take you to the southern islands of Thailand in future videos.

Khao San Road Walking Area

For this 4-day visit to Bangkok, we decided to show you around the Khao San Road area of Bangkok. But we prefer a more chill street just a few blocks away. Here is a Google Map so you can walk our favorite streets and then we will show you some of the best nearby restaurants and a mall you can get to by water taxi.

But, don’t visit Khao San Road during the day. The sun should set before you show up there. It is a very chill place to walk in the cool evenings. But if you go during the day, you really won’t understand why people love this area so much.

Best Food Near Khao San Road

Khao San Road is where you go in the evening to people-watch and have a few beers. But for the best food near Khao San Road, we recommend you visit one of the following places that Qiang and I show you in the video at the top of this page.

We walked to all of these places during this visit to Khao San Road.

Morning Market (Nang Loeng Market): 40 Baht Vegetarian Pad Thai and 40 Baht Pork Noodles. Thai Milk Tea 40 Baht.

Lotash Seed: 50 Baht vegetarian pad thai, 70 Baht Penang Tofu.

100% Vegetarian: They have buffet-style vegetarian dishes. Just point at what you want. It is about 65 Baht per meal.

Nai Ngam Fish Balls: We ate here during the vegetarian festival. Great food. But normally they serve fish balls as their specialty.

Water Taxi from Khao San Road to MBK Mall

Catch the water taxi at this dock (Panfa Leelard Pier) and get off at this dock (Hua Chang), and then walk a few blocks to MBK Mall. To get back to Khao San Road, take the water taxi back or grab the 47 Bus in front of MBK Mall back to Khao San Road.

Is Bangkok Back to Normal Yet?

The answer is no. Bangkok is not 100% back to normal yet. I would say Bangkok is about 65-75% back to normal, but not 100% yet. So, I recommend you book your flight to Bangkok as quickly as you can so we can get Bangkok back to normal.

The quicker Bangkkok lovers return to Thailand the quicker Bangkok can get back to 100%. Even though Bangkok is not yet back to Normal, it is still more fun than 95% of the cities around the world. So book your trip and help us get Bangkok back to normal.
