Puerto Escondido Mexico Best Restaurants and Life

This report covers Puerto Escondido Best Restaurants and Life including the best places to eat and shop as you watch our daily life.

Our favorite restaurants appear randomly in the above video but they are ranked in order as follows with our favorites first.

El Sultan: Extremely delicious and reasonably priced middle eastern food, both dine-in and take away. Our favorite meal in Puerto Escondido.

Cocofam: Second favorite meal in Puerto Escondido. This is a restaurant without walls. The amazing thing is the meals were just 60 Pesos ($3 USD).

SATIVA: Have your feet in the sand on the beach while you eat? Our third favorite meal in Puerto Escondido.

Elephant Garden: This place has an excellent breakfast in a nice garden setting but bring some mosquito repellant.

Mar & Wana: Beautiful garden setting with delicious creative dishes. Loved the Portobello Burger and Veggie Sushi.

Spirulina: Loved the Veggie tacos here. Went back 3 or 4 times. They come with 3 different salsas that are surprisingly delicious.

Restaurante Pez Gallo: Beautiful meals right on the beach at Bacocho Playa but priced only for special occasions.

PapaTots: Great supercheap flavors from around the world.

El Cafecito: Traditional Mexican dishes done very nicely and only slightly overpriced but they are very safety conscious with CV19. Here is another of their locations.

Dan’s Cafe: Great reasonably priced meals just steps from your room if you stay at Hotel Casa Dan in Playa Zicatela.

Café Ole: Place to see or be seen in the touristy hipster community of La Punta but food handling and table distancing was not handled safely on the day we were there (pricing exceeded value too).

Vagabond Buddha’s Kitchen: We were cooking most meals at home because I am a brilliant chef and we wanted to reduce our risk of catching Covid 19. We shopped for (1) Expat groceries at CHEDRAUI, (2) organic and healthy foods at Zicatela Market and Moringa Fresh and Wild, and (3) fresh fruits and vegetables at the Public Market and Zicatela Market.

Here is the Google Map of our favorite places to shop for food.

  1. I’ve been following your great videos! We’re recently retired and going to Puerto Escondido for 6 weeks Jan-Feb. 2022. I’m having a hard time finding a reasonable rental with a pool. I hear it’s hot, so not sure if we really need A/C in Jan. Any suggestions of areas in which to rent (leaning toward Bacocho, hoping for a breezy view)? Keep up the great work!
