In this report, we share Our 30 day vacation costs in El Nido Palawan.
I already have several reports covering El Nido Palawan including tours, retire early reports, where we stayed, and favorite beaches. Links to everything talked about in this report are in my retire early report for El Nido.
Now, we will cover what it costs us to live for 30 days in El Nido Palawan. This report covers what we spent money on over those 30 days in April of 2022. We also explain why some of the expenses were more or less than we usually spend along with expenses we did not include in this report.
Restaurants: $265
The amounts shared are in US dollars. We usually spend less than this on restaurants. But we ate more food in expat-style restaurants while in El Nido. For example, entrees were $6 to $9 dollars at Vanilla Beach at the Beach Beach. We also found more local-style restaurants, like Happy Home, right in front of the beach in El Nido town for $3-4.
Bus/Transportation: $100
Tricycles from Vanilla Beach to El Nido town were $3 one way. We did round trips to El Nido town 2 to 3 times per week. Our accommodations were sitting on top of a hill that would have been hard to walk up from where the tricycles drop you. But the accommodations provided free rides up and down the hill. We rented a motorcycle twice for $10 per day to drive 30 minutes to Nacpan Beach in El Nido. We decided not to rent the scooter for 7000 pesos ($140 USD) for the month and we rode tricycle taxis instead.
Grocery: $201
We shopped mostly in the local public market for fruits, vegetables, rice, tofu, and some fish for Qiang. There were no large expat-style grocery stores in El Nido but there are several smaller grocery stores. Everything seemed a little more expensive in El Nido than in other parts of the Philippines.
Smartphone Data: $30
Smartphone data of 48GB per month was 700 pesos ($12 USD). That included unlimited call and text.
Tours: $78
We had spent a few days in El Nido before the start of the 30-day period we are sharing here. We did a few tours then so we only had two tours left to do once this 30-day period started. The two tours we share here cost us about $78 USD.
Laundry 20
Our accommodations did our laundry for 65pesos per kg. So our laundry was about $20 USD for the month.
Rent: $540
We paid $540 rent for a month in our hostel. It included a private room with a bathroom. The place has breathtaking views of the sunset while sitting in the large common area. It also has a swimming pool and pool table and weekly house cleaning.
We usually like to get a private apartment with our own kitchen. We even found one that we show you in our retire cheap report for El Nido. But El Nido has electricity brownouts and spotty Internet.
So we elected to stay in the hostel since it had a backup electricity generator and multiple wifi Internet providers. Since customers with 30-day stays get to use the shared view kitchen, we were able to cook many meals at home in the hostel. Here is a video I made about the Lexias Hostel in El Nido where we stayed.
