Mexico City Best Restaurants

[kkstarratings]  This is Dan of Vagabond Buddha.  We just spent 2 weeks in Mexico City.  Here is my list of Mexico City Best Restaurants, listed by area.

Vecchio Forno (La Condesa): The above picture is Qiang Hui and I in front of Vecchio Forno. I had an amazing asparagus risotto here. Probably my favorite restaurant dish while in Mexico City. The risotto was around $12 USD. Qiang Hui had salmon that was about $15 USD. A decent barbera bottle of wine starts around $45 USD.

Lardo (La Condesa): This place has a great menu and is really busy. It has great reviews so we headed over there to try it. It was a great crown for people watching. The prices are about 30% cheaper here, but if you get tired of waiting for a table, check out Vecchio Forno above. It is right around the corner.

Tacos Hola (La Condesa): You thought tacos only came in 4 or 5 flavors? This place make 30 different kinds of Tacos. This is a one-stop shop for sampling tacos from all over Mexico. Tacos only cost $1 USD.

Azul Condesa (La Condesa): Are you ready for a white tablecloth Mexican dinner? This is a really great place with amazing Mexican food for relatively decent prices. You can get a nice entree here with an adult beverage for less than $20 USD per person.

Taqueria Arandas (Old Town Mexico City): This was the best taco Qiang Hui has in Mexico City. It is a sit down restaurant but the prices are almost as cheap as a food cart. Three tacos were about $1.5 USD. I ordered quesadillas, 3 for $2 USD. The amazing thing about this place is the large salsa dish they give you with your food–delicious!! We had them refill it twice it was so good. With drinks included lunch was less $6 USD.

Potzollcalli: (Old Town Mexico City) This is across the street from the tacos above. Qiang Hui has a Quinoa soup and I had 6 mini mole tostadas. The previous restaurant has better food and cheaper prices, but this one might be better if you the previous taco place is too crazy for you. This is a more relaxed setting.

Restaurante El Cardenal (Old Town Mexico City): This is a chain restaurant making traditional Mexican food with several locations. All of their locations seem to be reviewed really well. It was on our list but we never made it here. If you try it, let me know in the notes below and I will add your comments here.

Le Pain Quotidien (Polanco): We had brunch here on the day we did our Polanco Walking Tour. The food is decent and the atmosphere is amazing. You have to see this neighborhood and what better way to do it than to have brunch on at a beautiful sidewalk cafe. They have vegetarian, vegan, and dead animal options.

Best Places to Live in World: Here is my list of the ==>best live-cheap in paradise locations<== in the world.

If you book my recommended flights, tours, or accommodations, you will pay nothing extra, but I will earn a small commission. This will help me continue to travel and share with you.

Here are the tours available around Mexico City. I recommend using either Viator Mexico City Tours or GetYourGuide Mexico City Tours. These are tour aggregators. That means they just publish tours conducted by third parties. Some tours are better than others. So you need to read the reviews. Look for a tour that has at least 5 reviews that sound good, and 2 of those reviews should be within the last few months.

Here are my recommendations for accommodations in Cusco. Here is information about how to get to Cusco.

I am not offering you these prices.  These are just my notes and estimates from the time of my visit and this post.  Your costs will likely be drastically different if significant inflation or deflation occurs or the market changes after this post.  I will not update these numbers until I am on the ground again here, if ever.
